DP ECU vs PCIII etc

I'm currently running the S2R with a decat, end cans without baffles and standard airbox/filter. I will probably go with a K&N filter but have yet to decide on if I want the open airbox or not.

My question is I already have a DP ECU fitted, is there a need to have a PCIII or similar engine mapping thing or will the DP ECU be sufficient?

Check if you can get the DP ECU flashed, DP Unit is good but could be improved if flashable.

I ran my S2R 1000 with a full (baffled) Arrow system and open airbox with the DP ECU and Power Commander III (it was also bored out to 1089cc). This is the result of the dyno run:

As Chris said, the DP ECU can certainly be improved and you've also got the option of a Rexxer reflash at a fraction of the Power Commander/dyno time cost.

Having had a Rexxer flash on my 1100 Evo, I would recommend going down that route. If the Rexxer option had been available when I had my S2R, that's what I would have done.

No need for more. (IMO+IME)

My 800 dyno'd 2-3 hp more and 7-8 Nm more with decat Termignoni, open airbox and DP ECU. If ALL maintenance is done properly I can't see the point of a PCIII or similar on yours and my set ups. Maybe you find a minor dip somewhere, but with the quality of the DP ECU and price of a full (?) day on a Dyno..... not worth it. It's fun of course, so if that counts...

i have a DP ECU for my S4 its much better than standard ECU with the Modified airbox , K&N filter and Termis but its still not as good as the PC3 with custom maps power and torque are similar but PC3 is Smoother and better at low speed running ,, however i am also certain that DP ECU cab be remapped and improved on if You can access the right tuners .

What Jerry says. I have the full Termi system, DP airbox, DP ECU and PC111 with a custom map on my S4 and PC111 is mostly just to smooth out the low speed fuelling.

Interesting, looks like it can go further down the mod list for now

I also have a spare stock ECU I could play with

Yea, its just around 3k RPM and under that it is really lean because of EU regs and because of that it makes it really snatchy in first or 2nd at around 30mph etc and so the PC111 can adjust that and smooth it out to save your uova from breaking!
