If anyone's looking to get their bike serviced in the Kent/London area can I recommend Ducati Proteam in Strood.

Despite the snow and ice the other week, Alec came out and collected the bike free of charge (I sure as hell wasn't riding it in that weather), gave it a thorough going over, changed the belts, sorted the injection and now she's running a treat. Very friendly, helpful advice and reasonably priced too, especially as that included pick and collection. Alec is often on the forum (username Unit 18), so give him a go.

I popped in there today.

I was having trouble drifting out the old wheel bearings on the 620.

Very helpful, including supplying the right sized bearings and fitting them.

Well worth a visit.

Sadly, now it's only one top bloke. I'm not crashing enough for Matt to stay, so he's gone off to pastures new (Motoden/Scooterden in Hackney), leaving Al to hold the fort.

Yes I was saddened by that news when I popped the calendar to them. I hope I can give them some work soon. Actually I need them to take the tank off for an optimiser lead. The new monsters are not like the old ones on a hinge. The batterys buried and cocooned.

Yes, he's having a Mattling and needed more security really.
I think Paivi needs a new alarm fitted so she can attack the bikes loom with scissors again, I suppose when Albie ventures out, both he and the bike will have cushions attached.

Spose it wouldn't have been soooo bad if you'd attacked the alarm loom (and not the bikes) with scissors!

A question about batteries, Al, as you're there... I bought a Varta battery in, what, September, and used it for only about 100 miles, then put the bike into hibernation. There's no life in the battery now, I can't even jumpstart the bike. I just took the battery into my local scooter shop and they'll put it in a trickle charger for 24h to see if they can bring it into life, but told me it probably won't, as it's a maintenance free battery, so it should never be allowed to go below a certain level. Am I likely to have to buy a new battery again?

They're probably right I'm afraid, you can sometimes get them back and there are certain chargers which can desulphate them with okish results.
Always disconnect the battery if the bike's being left for a long period (tho not with scissors) and keep it on your coffee table as a talking point.

Bugger. Looks like the Duchess will continue her hibernation for another couple of months, then, as I won't get paid until mid-March the earliest.

Theres only the carbon tank panels left to buy in the M1100 catalogue I think. Hmm wheels silly me.
