Just plain lazy, like every trial bike I had in the 70's & 80's, not much fun for the pillion with their legs bobbing up and down.

Might just be an MOT thing?
I had a bike fail before because I had removed the rear set to fit an exhaust hanger, apparently if you have a rear seat you must have rear foot pegs whether you ever carry a pillion or not. |

If it has the seat cover on (essentially making it a single seater) it won't fail and MoT without rear pegs.

Yea, and why is it very rare? It's just an '99 M900 not rare afaik, there's probably more of these about than many other Ducati ever made.
