Is it true

Some people including some Ducati specialists have told me that SUZUKI GS550 and GS650 clutch plates work in Ducati monsters 750 and 900 and supersports fro 1991 -98 , The Suzuki plates are half the price of Ducati ones ????????

I read/heard that somewhere too quite a while ago, but can't remember where.

That rings a bell now. The way I read the discussion is that 350TSS had bought some to fit into his dry clutch M900. He's a couple of 100 hours away from completion of that build so you might not find out if they work or not and if you do it will be a dry clutch. I suspect the friction material may be different since it has to work in oil, so even if they don't work in a dry clutch they may well be ok for a wet one.

The plain plates are usually different in that they have pockets and not smooth like a dry clutch too, presumably for the oil to sit when compressed.

I'm pretty sure I still have the complete clutch plates from a Multistrada 1000/1100 which I thought would be dry like my Monster and mates Multi but apparently they must have changed to wet clutch. So if you can determine if they would fit let me know and I will try to find them?

As Darren69 says I bought GS550 wet plate clutch plates for my dry plate M900 for about £25 the set (new from China).
As Darren also says I am about 100 hours from completion so do not know whether they will actually work but thought it was worth the risk for that price. (taking one for the team?)
They would have fitted perfectly into a steel basket. As I had also bought an alloy basket with a stainless steel ring around the basket to stop it belling out the outer tangs just fowled the ring and needed a touch with a file on the outermost surface to clear this stainless steel ring.
I will report back on whether they slip or not as soon as I know.

the chinese ones are available in Uk for £25 a set the good ebc ones are £53 .

if I can get a job soon I might wait for EBC ones ,, problem is I can no longer work in UK or be employed by UK agencies due to new Tax rules on expats and IR35 from this April so for ROV work even if outside UK if the agency or company is UK based.

Non UK agencies are rare in this game ,, Im very worried talking to agents and companies in Norway, Holland , Singapore and Middle East but the UK agents control most of the jobs,, and some countries no longer allow offshore workers over 60 like China and Malaysia ,,,

The new rules are a nightmare ,, I need 4 months work every year for another 3 years until I can retire

UK based guys on temp offshore contracts will be losing 20% more of their present earnings after tax under new IR35 regime with no pension, sick pay or holiday pay it will be like being on PAYE but no benefits they will have continue paying there own pensions holiday ,sickness, training etc people on PAYE which is only 40% of the workforce offshore will be much better off, but companies only want contractor as most of the work is seasonal .....

but i spend less than 160 days in UK so am non resident for tax but the new rules mean if i get work from uk agent or company even if its not working in UK ALL my assets offshore become taxable its just not worth it , my accountant is firm on that ..as are the employers ,before I was only liable for tax on UK based actual work thru an umbrella company
total nightmare ,, for everyone in the industry in UK ...under the new rules i would be far better off on a Norway contract where I pay 48% tax !!!!!!when i work there .

best solution is to get work in asia, ME, Africa where i would pay very little tax but problem is that UK agents control most of the work now its a catch 22.

my UK based mates are bricking it as now according to the tax advisers and accountants they will have an effective tax rate of 52% once they pay for their NI ,Tax, pension, holiday pay ,training ,accountants while the permies will get all that free and only pay about 38% marginal tax and NI an get free training certs etc

for instance my mate colin lives in Norfolk last year he contract worked much more than me and earned about £64k on jobs in UK , germany, egypt and Italy he paid about £11k in tax and NI via his LTD PSC and another £11k into pensions and training cert and other company deductables costs under new regime he is still going to be paying about £10k for pension and Training certs etc but his NI and Tax bill is likely to be £22k .and the extra complexity means higher accountacy costs too ,last year he had a disposable income of after TAX ,NI,Work related costs of about £42K this year if he gets same amount of work he estimates his disposable income will be only £29k , add in corona virus and job uncertanty for the offshore industry and its making him very nervous same as me ..
he is younger at 51
im semi retired and 62 but still need 3 months work somewhere ????

Not so very different from the 40% income tax plus 12% National Insurance that employees pay here then.

yeah but employees get their training costs, medicals , NI, pension contributions, sick pay holiday pay and travel costs paid by employer and have security of work ,,they dont have to pay an accountant and they will take home less money than the PAYE guys now . The permanent workers on PAYE get paid a garanteed 183 days offshore pay even if the only work 100 offshore ,, the contractors only get contracts of 40 days maximum ,, usually its 28 days most of the UK based contractors will only ever get max of 150 days work in a season anyway ..so u need 3 or 4 contacts a season to make any money ,,

coronavirus has already messed up last 2 months and looking forward many contracts are on hold. also in my case i cant work for the UK companies so im even more screwed .

ho hum we shall see ???

Thats what I had been using for last 11 years when dealing with UK companies but under new IR35 regulations it no longer works for anything UK related ,,still use them elsewhere
they have advised me not to work in UK or for any company where funds originate in UK .

was talking to a old offsore mate today who is from Norwich he is now on PAYE and his lawyers for his divorce wanted him to go LTD , but under IR35 he would be even worse off,, his ex wife who has a new husband and 6 kids from 3 men is trying to screw my mate for child support on all the 6 kids when only the eldest daughter is his ,,,the Child support agency and her new husband who is a paralegal are behind it ,,,
