March Breakfast, Norfolk

Sunday March 8th will be the first classic bike meet of the year in the Village of Ramsey, Cambs.
It's a very pleasant ride over from Norfolk and a different selection of machines to ogle.

We could meet at 10am at Arbuckle's for a breakfast and ride on to Ramsey, or meet at Ramsey a little later for breakfast there.. Your thoughts welcome.

I would venture that in the case of foul weather, a breakfast at Arbuckle's would be favourite and play Ramsey by ear.

Grumpy and I have opted to meet at Arbuckle's at 10am for breakfast, on the basis of the breakfast there being of know good quality.
We should be at Ramsey for about 11.30am, so anyone coming from further afield West can skip Arbuckle's if they wish and have a more leisurely bimble over. Food is available at Ramsey.
The weather seems to be getting a bit milder next week and as the forecasts get nearer they predict less rain.. Looking hopeful for a ride and decent turn out of bikes.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is hopeful. At least it looks like being less bracing than recently but damp with it!.. I'll check the weather stone in the morning..

See you at Arbuckle's..

I'm planning to join you but I'm not exactly sure where yet.
There will be rain moving through here overnight but clearing eastward in the early morning.
I'll follow on behind once its dry but not sure exactly when that will be.
I'll text you if I'm going to make it to Arbuckles in time, otherwise see you at Ramsey.

Tim, if you're reading this .. I would've texted but I lost all my phone book a while back, including your number.

See you guys tomorrow @ Arbuckles.
Depending on the weather as to the 12r or gs will be the motion of choice

Great to see everyone this morning. Arbuckle's was warm and friendly as ever, with Dacs and the effervescent Mrs Dacs. Grumpy arrived on his Monster and Nathan also came on his bike after breakfast and joined us for the run to Ramsey, where we met Utopia. So 5 bikes and 3 Monsters..

Even though it was the best day for several weeks for riding, it was still far short of ideal! There was some pale Tarmac to be seen, but also a lot of dark brown stuff. Wet or filthy is one thing but both together are not great and we were all slipping about a bit now and then! It almost tried to get warm, but I was cold at the end of my 170 miles.. But hey, it didn't rain on me. (Except in Ramsey main street!)

Yes my route was both wet and muddy in patches but not too bad on the whole for early march. You have to expect a bit of agricultural overspill at this time of the year.
I had a pleasant bimble along the nene valley and the red kites were out in force .. what magnificent birds they are.
Great to meet up again after the winter lull.
Had a bit of anxiety on the way home when the fuel light came on while I was committed to the back roads of northamptonshire where the petrol stations are few and far between.
Ended up doing 22miles with the light on, beating my previous record by some margin.

Hey Jeff, had a similar experience myself today, managed 29.5 miles with the fuel light on....got 15.6 litres in my 16.5 litre tank......pretty close, at least I know I can do about 35 miles before I am pushing

Good to see everyone today.
My first trip out on the 12r for 2020.
As Gazza mentioned, lots of fun in the roads, wet/ dry......good surfaces/ whoops mud! Adds to the fun!
Waiting for the rain to pass over whilst in Ramsey played off on my 8 mile ride home
Roll on next time.

I managed to get the film back from the chemist extra quick this morning and as it happens I only managed to take one good snap.. Don't you just hate those "image out of focus" stickers!?

I saw this pretty little thing at Ramsey (The bike not Grumpy!). I would have no trouble at all living with that.. (The bike not Grumpy.)

I spotted that too.
Can't recall seeing too many in that colour before (the bike, not Grumpy).

Parked up in the same area were a couple of bikes that made me chuckle.
They left at the same time and it was "chalk and cheese" as one started up the single cylinder of his brit thumper while the other had a comparatively excessive six cylinders on his Honda CBX.

Blimey, Mike.
That's pushing it way beyond the mark.
Were you on your own though, or riding with company ?
I wouldn't fancy that solo with no chance of assistance.

Had an interesting chat with the owner, the 350 is part of a stable of Italian bikes in his care. The 350 is one of his favourites, although he was cursing whilst trying to start it, this took a good 10 swings on the kick start!
