Weird, silly, rude or just plain odd!

I like a silly place name me, and the thought that somebody could actually live somewhere called Nob End, or Catbrain (?!) appeals to my childish sense of humour.

Apologies\congratulations if you live in any of these places.

On the list there is a village in Essex called Ugley. I lived up the road from Ugley for a few years.
The local WI would change the village name, when pronouncing, to Ogley!

I was quite surprised to find one of my favourite silly place names not on the list: Wrynose Bottom. It's in Cumbria. There's also a Wrynose Pass, so presumably you can travel down the Wrynose Pass until you get to its Bottom...? Chuckle.

Wetwang has a fabulous fish and chip shop. One of the funniest places is Lickey End, we have some friends that we met on holiday that lived near there. I equally laughed lots at the fact we went on our honeymoon to Cockermouth

They missed Six Mile Bottom, which isn't far from Great Snoring.

South Yorks Police HQ is on Letsby Avenue, Sheffield , which I thought was pretty funny

I mean they must have realised we when they came up with a name for the pkace that Nob End would probably not be the best name?

Darren, times and sensibilities change. Many of these names go back hundreds of years.

Dull, in Scotland, is actually twinned with Boring, in Oregon. Just saying.
