A lot of food for thought there. Ok so il try and get my hands on some MEK first then take it from there.
BUT anyone any advice pros cons of cutting it open?

Only that if you cut it you've got to shut it.
The only problem I can see is down to the shape of the tank, there isn't really a good place to make a decent sized hole to get access, and I'm not sure how helpful that would be given that the best removal is going to be by using liquid solvents. If you do cut the tank make sure you have a welder who can do a decent job sticking it back together again.
