"Selling my Ducati with a heavy heart but at 71 years old its maybe time to buy a BMW"
Love that bit, just bought the wife a new M821 for her 70th birthday. Asked her if she wanted a BMW and she said that she was not 80 yet! |

I’ll be happy if I can swing a leg over at 70. One of my knees is dodgy and I’m only 38.
Also it’s a pity that stripe has came up just now. I’ll be looking end of 2019. |

Its definitely all in the mind...
At the moment I'm 75 years young and hopefully a few more years riding the big problem is that recently I had a major health issue but I'm determined to get back to my olde self... |

He's 71 , but more like 41!.
I mentioned about doing a trackday on my 765RS and he said let me know when and I'll do it with you. He's been away on bikes to the classic TT this year. The south of France and the isle of wight so far . He's got about 8 at the moment I think . Laverda jota BSA Norton AJS etc etc I don't think he wants to sell the duc but needs more room really. Doggy if you’ll let me thread hijack for a moment.
I presume you’ve ridden both the 765RS and your dads 821. What’s your opinion of them separately and as direct comparison. I’m in two (three minds). 765RS, 821 or 1200S/R. The 821 is the winner atm due to it (probably being plenty of power) and would allow me a set of carbon wheels for the 1100 Evo, which is being kept. |

Hi Ron,
I borrowed the 821 for a week up to and around Scotland . 2.5k miles in the week!. The 821 seemed so smooth and powerful compared to my aircooled 796 . It pulls like a Duc should from low down but also if you want to leave it in a low gear and blast between turns it really likes to rev and it fly's! . The standard pipes sound great, mirrors are fine and the dash is clear enough . Great brakes too . Almost tempted to sell my 796 and buy his 821! With my 796 I had a MV Brutale 800 which I loved, which I traded in for the RS . The MV had lots of character, angry engine amazing steering, always wanting to GO . rock hard suspension and seat though . The RS is soo smooth and good it's almost a bit boring on the road . I like it, but I don't love it yet! . The quickshifter is sublime and makes the old one on the MV feel ancient . The Ohlins again is in another world . It's too easy to ride too fast and ride a bit like a twat at times and I should know better . Also, you go to a bike meet and there are always a few street triples about and a couple of RS's probably . But not many monsters at all, i think it's nice to be a bit different . Not ridden the 821 since last year so may have to have a go to see how it is against the rs . Hope that sort of helps, you'll like the RS but maybe like the 821 more if your a Duc man ? . Get a test ride on both, one after the other. Colin |
