The 1200 addresses that issue, and then some, I should think. Cobra - your EVO is looking absolutely fantastic - quite envious of the forks and I love the white tank / red frame / black wheels combo more than I ever thought possible. And the exhaust, whilst not the sexiest I've seen, is pretty damn close to being so, and looks like it means business. Nice work.

Ah ok, yes, fair enough I suppose, thanks Bob. For me looks trump performance though, hence I'm on a Ducati. Is there a lot in it then. I heard the 1200 has about 140bhp what does the Evo kick out?

The 1200S claims 145 peak at the crank. So, 45% more! Some of that from more torque generally, the rest because it won't run out of revs at 8000rpm. IMHO the EVO has more than enough for UK roads - enough to go stupidly fast and get into trouble... you just have to work a bit harder at it and that, for me, is where the enjoyment comes from anyway. If you go on track, however, it is frustrating because a 600cc rice burner or a 675 Triumph will leave an EVO for dead on any decent length of straight. The 1200 will not have that trouble.

Hi Dan
What you done with your anni bodywork ? Im after a corse kit if i can find one but also like the anni as the retro font looks cool. Rick Hi Bob I have done the 189 @ rear wheel zx10R stuff and many many trackdays and tired of huge power bikes The evo is just about perfect for uk twisties and shorter UK trackdays and i enjoy riding a slow bike fast more than trying not to highside on every exit (I know JP. ) My traction control has been off since it stopped me wheeliing between 2 of my favorite corners Horsepower is great but more than the 85 i guess the evo puts to the ground is pointless on the road for me anyway. I am still at the front of my riding group on all our rides and they all have silly power sports bikes. I even bought a 500 nexus scooter 3 years ago to try and get sane. Still left most of my lot behind. Torque is far more fun on the road than HP. I am guessing Ducati's 145 hp 1200s is the usual Ducati 125 at the wheel and with 25 kg of excess baggage it will only be faster than the Evo on a motorway or D Carriageway So would rather improve the already reasonable 1100 evo Have already shed 10 kg and a few more with soon to fit wheels. Hope my ramblings make sense. Also my finished mortgage loads of expendable dosh came to an end after 25 years when i split from my X and she took me to cleaners after i bought everything! Now had to start again at 50 with new mortgage etc but as bonus met my GF when she was out on her Z1000 which i had at same time Last edited by Cobra88; 03-12-2013 at 08:27 PM.. |

Of course if you want a bit of extra oomph for the 1100 a cheap way is to improve aero and cooling by adding a belly pan |

Oh dear
I have been looking at unobtanium (ti) fasteners tonight The next weight loss is gonna be pricey The 10 front disc bolts i just bought in ti are 38 grams for all 10 The original steel bolts are 125 grams for all 10 1198 330 mm discs are 250 grams each lighter than the evo discs. All unsprung weight. Will also invert my rear ohlins soon to save unsprung weight Might just leave it for weight as it feels like a 250 now. Cant find a Corse bodykit. Ebay italy has all the others but no Corse kits :/ Wheels here tomorrow but i have too much work to fiddle in garage :[ Last edited by Cobra88; 03-12-2013 at 09:33 PM.. |

Hi Albie
No mate I would not use carbon wheels on the road. I have bought forged aluminium OZ Piega 5 spoke billet wheels in Black anodised finish (Secondhand) off an 848 |
