S4 flyscreen commonality?
Hi folks, I recently bought an S4 Monster which I have been refreshing. Done the belts, valve clearances, clutch, etc, etc but really want to fit a fly screen.
I know that it would have had one originally, but wondered if anyone could confirm which years / models of Monster share the same screen? Of course, if anyone has got one they want to sell, let me know. |

Any of the post '00 facelift models up to the new shape. So S4, S4R, S4RS S2R, 1000sie, 800sie, 695 and even some of the late 900sie should all have the same screen and cowl as far as I know.
If it looks like this shape then chances are it will fit:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ducati-mon...LmY6yR0LYQkDGg You should have a rubber grommet on the back of the front indicator mounting bolts and a small threaded hole in the bracket above the headlight mounting plate on the front sub-frame.

only problem will be that at any speed above 80mph it flaps around really badly ,, not enough support in the plastic

Are the aftermarket ones any better? Something like this: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...020631&alt=web

You used to be able to buy support struts from Spareshack but they are no longer around. I have some one mine and they work well. I don't know if someone else makes them. Probably easy to make your own if you had some flat aluminium strips.
The carbon version of the standard screen may be better than the plastic one as carbon with Kevlar would be more rigid. Those PUIG ones are just Puigugly if you ask me.
