S4R rear sprocket removal

I am struggling to remove the pentagram shaped flange that holds the crush drives to the rear sprocket. it appears to be seized to the axle. Am I missing a circlip or key that holds this on?
I have a feeling that this may well be the first time that this will have been removed in 13 years, so there is a good chance that it might be very corroded. so far I've tried WD40, gentle heat & not so gentle big hammer.
I don't want to damage the flange, the sprocket itself moves on the axle ok, its just the flange that's the problem.
Also can anyone tell me what length chain I should have, the manual I have is for an S4R with the tetastressa engine, with says 103 + 1, but I've also seen 105 but I can't remember where.
