Five things you don't like about your Monster
Wasting time on YouTube tonight watching motorcycle reviews I decided to watch a couple of old ones on various Monster models to compare against the modern bikes being reviewed.
One in particular took my interest detailing the Five things the owner hated about his Monster- most of it was down to age and neglect and in his defence he'd only had the bike (at the time) a few months. Now I know we all love our Monsters here and can go on for ages about how great they are but this got me thinking about what I don't like about my 1997 900 and after all these years there still really isn't very much, but in no particular order here goes: 1- Given I like to get away for the odd weekend on it I have to say I don't think throw-over panniers fit on it as well as they have other bikes I've owned. 2- The lack of under seat storage means anything that doesn't fit in the little tool box (like a disc lock) has to be carried elsewhere. 3- I guess there are also the things which have simply moved on over time when compared to modern bikes such as Mr Gazza's 'favourite' the Headlight beam- I don't ride that much at night anymore so it is a little unfair for me to count this but here it is anyway. And I think that is about it- if I think of anything else I'll pop back and add them but for now how about a little 'Just for Fun' list of things you don't like specific to your model Monster and personal to you.

Having only had my 1200s for a year I think there are only a few niggles (less than most other bikes I've owned).
1. Seat is too low and hard, I have the "comfort" seat (not any more comfortable but higher) but I still need more height. 2. Quick shifter is crap at normal (legal) speeds (I have it disabled in touring mode). 3. No underseat storage. Struggling to think of anything else to be honest.

(1) 1100s pitched to far over the bars compared to my old 900 so wrist ache at slow speeds , but ohh when on song all forgotten , although would be good to find a solution for touring … think that's probably going to be a evo top handle bar clamp ?!

M620ie : throttle bodies prone to sticking at high mileage, headlight poor, clocks not waterproof, stock suspension not great.
M1000Sie : headlight poor, clocks not waterproof, stock suspension not great. M1200R : dash hard to read in bright sunlight. |

Most of the things I didn't like about my S4 I have remedied and there aren't many.
Didin't like S4 bars (look or comfort) - Fitted Woodcraft risers. Didin't like the <3000prm fueling of the DP ECU - Fitted PCIII and custom map. Seat is a bit low and lacks underseat storage. Not sure what I can do about this since otherwise the Corbin is nice and comfy too. Rearset pegs set as low as they can go. Excessive engine heat - Fitted oil cooler and air runners. Cr@p headlight. - Fitted HID but may have to go to LED or adapter ring if MOT fail. Full Termi is a bit on the loud side - Eh? What? Can't hear you! Sounds great to me and I could always fit Db killers if my neighbours complain. That's it!.

Yea was gonna mention fasteners but it would be the same whatever bike. Most of mine are now stainless or titanium in a few cases. I will have to add full titanium kit to my bucket list.

Oh and one more thing the side stand engine interlock had to go. I wsnted to be able to run the bike up on the stand like normal people do.

1. That I didn't take the plunge years ago. 2. Underseat storage - as per Flip 3. That Bloody dangly untidy Oil Pressure Sensor Wire. 4. Checking the valve clearances. 5. Doing anything to the carbs without hands the size of a baby's. Oh, and that I don't get to ride it as much as I'd like. Nasher

Vauxhall Astra oil pressure switch is a standard feature! Can we have some decent engine paint that doesn't fall off in great chunks (2000 on bikes) as the early stuff was better. I know that carbs are pain to get too but the 916 engine is even more of a squeeze in the standard frame. You have to get used to things being a tight fit.

I have used both my M750 and S4 for long touring , throw overs work well with a magentic tank bag ,,seats I have a detachable gel pad for long runs ,,,,headlights are not great for high beam even with LED,, or upgraded lenses or HID ,,,as i get older footpegs are too high ..
