Twenty one years ago....
Twenty one years ago i passed my motorcycle test . My First bike was a Ducati 600SS, I got it from a guy in Barnes London . The Moment he pulled the cover off it and started it up, I was buying it know matter what!. It was a red noisy Ducati! . I had it for a couple of years and made some great memories on it . Going to the Manx TT with my dad and my first ride on a track at Mallory park at the festival of a thousand bikes. Nothing is forever, and I sold it for a VTR 1000 firestorm...... . Anyway, our very own monster owner Albie posted a pic of a 600ss he once owned on facebook . It was only my old bike!! .He had moved it on years ago to a fellow ducati man, who had then sold it on to our club member Liz Evans! . I contacted Liz a few months ago asking if she still had it, and yes she did! Well twenty years on and she's back home!, she looks just as good as the day she went, if not even better . Yes it feels very slow and has no brakes, but I really enjoyed my first 50 mile ride on her again. Happy days . |

I love a story with a happy ending! What a small world planet Ducati is.
That Supersport has definitely aged better than I have over the past 25 years! Thanks for sharing that, Doggy. |

Lovely story Doggy.
My first Ducati was a 750SS 20 years ago. It was a lovely bike compared to all the British iron I'd had, but uncomfortable! I sold it and a 650 Triumph to get my first M900.. I've just bought another one to re-imagine, but it's nice to hear that you've got your actual first bike back, in such nice condition too.. The stuff of dreams.

What a great story - amazing co incidence that you spotted it on Albies post and then able to not only buy it, but to get it in great condition.
Enjoy!

The steel swingarm was twisted by almost 20mm and original single silencer was grazed too beyond reasonable repair so I sleeved it with carbon fibre. The rear exhaust outlet pipe was so thin and leaking I had it welded at the time I think via GT as big oz was not the main man. I also started making the mono seat but sold that too as it was going to be super light fashion. Basically I got bored with it and scrapps regretted selling his ss750 to shuffy of this parish. I bought it on a whim after selling stupidly my 748 and was on the verge going to get, but snow interfered buying the ss900 or was it 750 that Yorkie now has. Long may it bring you joy.
