Trip reset knob.
Can anyone help me out please I lost my trip knob somewhere in Hayle, when I tried to reset the miles on the move, after an interesting fill up! (Shh!)
I rang Moto Rapido from the bottom of Cheddar Gorge this morning in the hope that if they had one, I would adjust my route to pick it up from Winchester. But alas, Craig informs me that they are no longer available... He sold the last one years ago. (Great run up the Gorge though...and then straight back down again. It's for a Y2K bike, but it's the same knob and shaft from '93 onwards for all mechanical speedos. I assume they thread in as all I have now is a brass circle with a hole, flush with the casing. While I'm begging, I could do with a replacement rev counter too. My needle sticks from time to time, but has always got better when it dries out. Even so It could do with a new one as the casing is badly cracked at the back (and badly repaired by a previous owner too). Thanks for reading and thanks in advance if you can help me out...

Sorry, forgot to say... The rev counter has a grey face, white letters and a red scale.
Importantly it also has the oil pressure warning light in it.... Cheers.

While researching some car restoration things a while back I came across a gauge refurb service. Saw a Monster gauge on the webpage, since it sounds like a mechanical issue you might chase up that avenue for parts or work?

Thanks for that Aviatore.. I'll give them a ring tomorrow.
One option might be to make something unique, but does anyone know how they attach? Ditto Grumpy. Site bookmarked.

The reset knob has a hollow shaft and there is a small (2mm?) philips head screw that goes through it to screw into the brass shaft in the gauge (need to remove it to get the speedo out of the housing).
I would suggest that the screw worked itself loose and the whole thing fell off. Here's one on US ebay; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DUCATI-OEM...AAAOSwstxVei5R

Not sure what your knob looks like 🙄😝 but often you can buy them on Internet. Think the xt 500 one is available. Don't think I have anything in my parts bin but will have a look

A knurled aluminium piece would be nice, gold anodised maybe?

I've got a spare Monster speedo at home, will have a look later to see if its still got it's Knob.
Does a Monster speedo that's had it's knob removed become a Monsteress speedo? Nasher

Thanks for all the knob gags... I'm really missing playing with mine!
Thanks for the link Tim. I decided to pay the ransom and ordered the American one. No sooner than making the order I spot Nasher's post. Nasher that would be great if you can find one. Please let me know and if not I will re-order the American one, which I have cancelled for the moment. Thanks also for the offer to make one Jeff. on analysis it would be a bit tricky as the shaft turns out to be "D" shaped, with a flat on it. so a hollow "D" would have to be made and the small screw identified (not M2 as I thought). The idea of a custom one appeals as it would tell a story. But on the other hand I don't want to draw attention to it as some people can't resist fiddling with things (insert your own knob gag here!)... I had a digital watch on my bars once and it got interfered with a couple of times at shows! I had a word with the chappie that Aviatore linked to, and what a very helpful and knowledgeable chap he is, although he does not sell any of his spares stash, as they go into restorations,. Understandable... I would highly recommend him just from our extremely helpful conversation.

Something a little more discreet would be nice.
In all the speedos I have seen, the knob sticks out too prominently. |

Gazza
Will look tonight. I did wonder how Utopia was going to form the 'D' shaped hole that small. The screw is still available to buy from Stein Dinse by the way. http://www.stein-dinse.biz/Complete-...ob::95422.html Call Mandy Heiber and try to keep a straight face whilst asking her for a 'Duc screw resetting knob' Nasher.
