rear cylinder removal ????

Got to remove rear cylinder on my 1991 750ss this requires removal of cam belt wheel to get at right hand head bolts ,its easy on the front cylinder but on the rear its recessed which leaves no room for holding or grips so how does one hold it to prevent cam turning remove the cam belt wheel nut , i have the special 4 pin tool for the nut .

I wrapped an old belt around it, bring the two sides together below the pulley then grip them with mole grips.

You shouldn't need to remove the cam pulley to get the head off - at least you don't on a 900 and I wouldn't think the 750 is much different?

But the tool for the camshaft pulley is a 2-piece item, with the nut removal tool that fits inside the pulley holding tool precisely for that purpose.

yes I reckon thats what I will do too,,

Dukedesmo the early 750 engine is different from my later 750 and 900 the rear pulley is recessed . and pulley has to come off to get access to right hand head nuts

As said, you'll need a tool to hold it when torqueing it back on but if you just want it off quickly then leave the belt on, use an impact driver and it should come off easily enough.

Off with my impact gun ,, the special tool wont fit this model , I borrowed one off Alf but to torque up can be done using an old belt with engine locked in gear and brakes ,,


BUT Im a numpty !!!! just realised i am going to have to drop the engine out to remove rear cylinder as 750ss frame is different from monster ,,its goy a brace for the rars shock above the head.....HO hum more fun ,,DOH!!!!!
