Quiet M900 Clutch
As an experiment I have just tried the "A quiet Ducati clutch, the easy way! By Nick Woods"
as posted on DUN: http://www.ducati-upnorth.com/forum/...iet-Clutch-Mod In effect pulled out the entire clutch plates, and put an old steel friction plate in first. Then replaced the plates in the order they came out. Clutch is now silent in neutral, neutral is easy to find. Familiar tambourine sound when clutch lever in. Anyone got any quick advice (eg undo that mod) before I go for test ride?? |

Interesting, I certainly wouldn't mind if mine were quieter.

I''ll report back later
- the metal on metal chatter in neutral has gone until the lever is pulled...then a pleasant tambourine sound! Proof of the pudding later..... |

A noisy clutch is other peoples problem not mine

Yes but what this mod does is reduce the friction plate tab and clutch basket wear.
As a bonus it replaces the box of spanners with a crisp metallic Italian tambourine! It means that I can hear the SILs and Induction better with a nicer neutral sound at the lights! 40 mile ride and no issues - in fact clutch seems a bit lighter and crisper. Its cup of Tea and then back out - work can wait on days like this! |

Well done 100 miles on it and I think I prefer the feel and sound of it.
Here it is in perspective on the top of the Wolds - 10 miles from home as the crow flies but 45 on the M900! And a close up in its current guise: |

Eh????
Clutch quiet??
No noise?? Why would you want that?? If mine didn't make the different noises I'd think there was something wrong with it!! Embrace the rattles, clangs and ring-a-dings I say!

Great colour scheme! I'm thinking of similar on a 900ss. Got any more pics?

I actually used one black and two Ford gold colours (frame and wheels are different golds). As for the why quieter, I have owned this 20 year old M900 for 10 years and wanted to test this mod out. It is giving a different noise and the best clutch action since I owned the bike! |
