No not the clutch that is normal. Other side of engine is even more noticable.

If it was the first time I would not have known as well. **** luck I guess as 749 had bearings gone in horizontal head and it made the same noise. That was about 1.5k to fix so sold it.

lol.. i been a car mechanic for years.. i good at listening to customers sounds.. i once had this knock that the customer could hear but it took me three days to hear the same noise... a bit of plastic had broken off in the wheel hub and was rattling around as they drove.. bloody quiet noise

clutch release bearing.. pull clutch in does it go away.. (i know its louder the other side but humour me)

If you are talking pressure plate bearing it is 2 months old. Oh and it does not go away tested already.

doesnt matter if its two months old bud.. even brand new ones can be faulty.. take clutch off and see if it does it then.. if it doesnt do it then im still going with release bearing. (pressure plate/release bearing same thing diffrerent names)

if you take the clutch off and it still does it then it must be something more internal.. whats the oil like on it? black and thick? any bits in it?

No bits seen 1k miles ago and oil nice and thick. That sound did start to show up about 3 months after I got the bike, so about December, but not too loud. Then I got open clutch cover and it was gone ..... just to reappear with vengeance.

Could be bottom end - crank or big ends. Sounds too deep in motor to be rods (small end) or piston slap. Difficult to make out over clutch rattle TBH, but it definately doesn't sound right at all. May need a full strip down to get to the cause of it. How many miles has bottom end done, and have oil level and change intervals been maintained properly?

Try running motor parked up with oil filler cap out and see if noise gets louder

yeah.. take clutch off.. see if noise goes away.. if it doesnt then open up cap and see if its louder...

have you checked the rotor nut is tightened? I know early 900 had this problem
