very easy to do, just loosen the top of fork leg whilst still in the yokes.
you dont have to undo the damper rod (allen bolt in bottom of leg) take leg off, remove top of fork leg, and if i remember correctly as it was a while since i last done mrs G's) there are a couple of cut washer / cotters that hold the leg into the sleeve. just remove and leg falls out. as for fork oil, the haynes book of lie tells all |

I would also change both seals at the same time. It's a good bet that the other one is close to letting go if the other seal's already failed. Also take a good look at the stantions for pitting or other damage. If they are in a bad way the new seals will be trashed in no time, leading to more repairs being needed.

Thanks for the information.
Can you please tell me which size the allen key is required to remove the axle and my manual does not tell me which oil to use. |

Hi
when you come to put it back together they say you need a special tool to hold the damper rod while you push the spring down. I screwed a bolt into the top of the rod, in the thread provided, and held the bolt in a workmate so the fork was standing underneath, and this worked fine. From the time I undid the fork top until I put the leg back was about 45mins. Cheers Stuart |
