My first Ducati
Hi all, firstly thanks for the kind welcome on the newbie posts, you information and advice has been great. After months of deciding what I wanted, I decided against a new 821 for a 2006 S2R 800. I decided as I have not had a bike for 10 years I was best breaking myself in with a cheaper bike first. She is in good nick and took her for a ride today for the first time, and loved her. I ordered it yesterday from a dealer in Halifax and was delivered today. It's orange and black, and I bloody love it!

Now THAT, in my opinion, is most definitely the correct choice.
Looks like a nice, unmolested example too. And pretty, in orange and black. My first Ducati was a orange M750. 8 or 9 yrs later its still my only Ducati (though its blue now). Does everything I need, and does it very nicely. Its a keeper for sure. Its never yet needed dealer servicing and it stopped depreciating years ago. Its actually a very cheap bike to run if you do your own servicing. The aircooled, 2-valve monsters are great to work on. Apart from oil/fluid changes, the major service expenditure is changing the belts. Its actually really easy peasy and worth thinking about doing this yourself if you're even moderately handy with the spanners.. See here .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vzPZ84ZRjU Either way, the belts are supposed to be changed every second year, unless you do particularly high mileage.....worth checking when yours were last done. I hope you love it as much as I do my 750. You'll have a tad more power, a sixth gear, and fuel injection (avoiding winter carb icing), so it bodes well. Single sider looks trick too ...though personally I prefer the sensible double sider, but the single has the look. If its a plastic tank, use premium fuel and check the forum for info on tanks swelling and how to avoid. |

Yea, nice one! Would sound nice with a full exhaust system. It just so happens I have one that should fit.

Very nice, my first Ducati was also orange but that was long before the 'standard' was rosso corsa.

hi handsy , looks a cracker , i got the 1000 s2r & love it . You'll probably be glad you got the wet clutch if you do a lot of town/city riding.Is the tank metal or plastic ?? they're great bikes enjoy !
