LED indicators on an S4R

Hi all,

Has anyone fitted LED indicators to an 07 S4R monster on here?

Ive put inline resistors in to the system between each indicator and the supply, but only 3 of the 9 LED's in each indicator light up. The resistors where recommended by the supplier, but i am wondering if 18.5w is too much.

Any thoughts?

Many thanks.

Have you checked that the lights work? Good to know to diagnose this issue.

The circuit is made for 10 watt each bulb. When I asked about fitting 23 watt bulbs in my signals, someone with knowledge about electronics answered it was borderline overload. I don't know if or how serious it could be, but wonder why you'd need 18.5 watt per signal...

If you go on desmoworld.de website you'll find every thing you need to install led indicators.

18,5 watt LEDs must be huge! The reason for the resistors is because the LEDs normally draw very little power, rather than more than incandescent bulbs.

This might sound stupid but are you checking them with the engine on or just ignition? This has made a difference for me before

I have LEDs all round with no resisters and everything works as it should

Hi All,

My original post was slightly incorrect, the resistors are 18watt/8.5 ohm units, i have got a new set of indicators and still have the same issue......... as i suspected it was the indicators.

If the circuit is made for 10watt per bulb then the combination of the LED (guessing 1-3 watts) plus the resistor is double what i should be fitting........correct? surely i should be fitting 8.5 watt

rac3r Are you riding an 07 S4R?

annoyingly the one thing i have not done is try the signals with the engine on, only the ignition ....... as my rad is off the bike being strengthened...... ill feel pretty stupid if thats the issue.

07 S2R but I would give it a go with the engine on, like I said it's made a difference for me before so it may work for you too
