I think I had that code flash up when my 796 battery went awol a couple of years ago. New battery fitted and been fine ever since. Sorry can't remember the make I got. If you didn't have to dismantle half the bike I'd go and have a look for you.

This is not an uncommon occurrence with the 696/796/1100 models so it's odd that there's no mention of the particular fault code in either the owner's or workshop manuals.
The 0005 r.SW (or sometimes 0008 r.SW) refers to a software reset and occurs when the battery voltage drops to a level that the ECU deems could cause it damage so it shuts down completely momentarily and resets all elements of the dash, (trip, ABS, TC and clock). http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/s...ad.php?t=57594 http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/s...ad.php?t=58218 Assuming the battery is the cause, rather than another symptom, (of say, a dodgy regulator), then a Motobatt MBT12B4 is a good replacement. Mine's been on my Evo for over 4 years now without problems. |
