Motobatt charging

Thinking of replacing my battery with a motobatt, do these require a motobatt charger/monitor, or will my trusty Accumate do the job?

I've had a Motobatt MBT12B4 on my Evo for two years and it's been fine on my ancient Optimate 3.

I just neglect mine, and so far have been getting away with it.

It was a little sluggish starting on Sunday though: spin for a couple of minutes, then ignore while having a coffee, then fires on one, then two after a few more turns.

I got about 3 years out of my MBT12B4 using my trusty old Optimate to trickle charge it, you may get more with a more sophisticated modern charger I don't know. The old battery gave no warning signs it was on its way out, it charged and gave 12v ok reading on the charger but just didn't have enough power to crank the engine.

I took my Motobatt out of it's box and put it on the bike 5 years ago... It's never seen a charger!

I never bother putting a charger on any of my bikes. Just ride them now and then.
You don't have to change the bikes charging system for different makes of battery so the same goes for a charger.
