Need to replace the engine oil any suggestions to help reduce emulsion?

The window on the l/h side is for checking the timing, nothing to do with oil.
Use any good motorcycle synthetic or semi-synthetic oil that's designed for wet clutches. Last edited by slob; 29-12-2014 at 05:00 PM.. Reason: stupid spellchecker on my phone |

Any good quality motorcycle oil, Shell will be fine, use the semi synthetic. Rock Oil, Motul etc will do just as well. 15W40 is what I always used.

I always use Shell, never had an issue with either wet or dry clutch motors

Just a hassle trying to find somewhere i can go buy some. Even tried the looal Shell garage and all they have is 1ltr bottles. Halfords are castrol only.

Stay away from petrol stations and Halfrauds, you'll end up with a 'car oil' that's not suitable for a wet clutch. Try your nearest motorcycle shop

I bought the Shell ultra plus a K&N filter from M&P (ebay), £38.
I have the oil rad so thinking - Should i leave the rad in palce for drain down then put it lower than the sump on the refill? or isn't this necessary, does it purge itself? |

You don't need to (re)move the oil cooler during changes.
The take off/return is at the filter housing, it'll drain down. |

Since both the flow and the return connect to the top of the oil cooler, I would assume that although the lines themselves will drain, the cooler will not.
In fact, Capo is always telling me that I should unbolt the cooler to drain it properly at oil changes, otherwise the new oil will be contaminated with the residue of old oil left in the cooler. And I probably should, but up to now I've never bothered. I usually use the excuse that the oil is being changed before its strictly due, so the residual oil may be "used" but its not exactly "old" just yet. |

Good point, even though it's a very small percentage of the overall quantity, there's always going to be some residual contamination.

I always empty the cooler when doing an oil change.
And the (non-standard) cooler on my Monster holds around 1/2 litre...
