Car Jacking....
.....a friend of mine was car jacked a few weeks back! Bad enough his new Audi RS6 was taken, but the thieves beat him up within an inch of his life on his driveway!!
The theft happened over in Stockport Manchester. It's a long shot, but if anyone has heard of this over in the Manchester area, please drop any information via PM to me and I'll pass onto the police. The car has a tracker fitted, but nothing has come to light yet so obviously it was a theft to order. Fortunately my friend is recovering but wary of what has happened to him. Car jacking is a crime on the increase, so please, please be wary of anything suspicious especially as we approach Christmas where the thieves know many shoppers have expensive goods in their cars. Regards, Mark

I thought the theft of high end cars was decreasing due to lack of available money. It's awful when you're not even safe in your own garden.

Bad news and hope your mate gets well soon.
Just came across these things which could explain the tracker not being tracked. Never heard of them until I saw these after reading your post. http://www.safeguard-cts.com http://www.safeguard-cts.com/gpsgsmjammer.htm Last edited by dlloyduk; 23-10-2008 at 11:23 PM.. |

very sorry to hear about your mate. its bloody bad when your not safe on your own drive.
my partner is from SA where this is common, its one of the reasons she left(constant danger no place to bring up kids) hope he make a full recovery. something else for people to be aware of. |

Job jobbed. As cars get harder to break into, I fear car-jacking may well increase. |

Ok, that's quite scary considering I've just moved to an area down the road from Stockport!
Hope the fella gets on his feet again soon!

Think there will always be a market for high end cars especially with the cost of spares.....many are shipped abroad, and some are broken for parts. My friend is on the mend although he still has some blurring in one eye. I just hope what happened to him doesn't mess with his or his family's minds for too long! Regards, Mark

Tracker is not GPS based it transmits a signal and if a cop car is near equiped with a reciever it picks up the coded signal and they then find out from tracker what it is. However it does require a signal sent to it to activate it and I do not know how this is sent whether it is GSM or radio waves. |
