600 to 900

I'm going senile forgive me ....
Probably asked before

If anyone has been a 600 rider and jumped to A 900 how have they found it?
Much of a difference?

How much heavier ie weight?

The time is now really for me to get stuff done .
I'm a bit teetering and about to have my neck fused bone graft and titanium cage on spine I'm not sure if il recover fast.
I suppose we adapt and you just adapt to bigger / heavier juicier .
Just wanted to know if it is a big jump ..heavier in weight and manageability .
I'm worried I may be more fragile for a while. And land myself with something harder to manage.
I'm hoping to be less wobbly afterwards.
If it is a brute then it may be I stick with 600 engine.

Cool

Mel,

I don't think any weight difference is that noticeable, I'm not sure there is much of a weight difference to be honest.

As for power difference, its better and noticeable but as with all bikes its your twist of the wrist that gauges how much power you want.

Hope all goes well with any operation.

Well well well I just started using monster 695 so can compare that to my m944.

M944 is much harder to ride in town but on open road much, much easier.

Clutch is obvious first dry is heavier. M900 is more jerky down below and as there is more torque mid-range it picks up harder which is good for fun on open road, not so good when there is car in front
It also feels slightly heavier then m695 when taking it for a walk but that could be weight distribution just as well. When riding them no difference to me.

Now next part might just be my m944 but it feels vibration on it is different. Frequency of vibration is different as in on m944 they feel less frequent but stronger. M695, especially at higher speed feels a bit like tingling. Still to decide which one is nicer on vibration front.

Another one, that could be injected frame and carb frame difference but m695 turning circle is so much better. It does not exist on my m944 you lean in to every corner in town or you like a bus.

All in all I find to love them both and I only had m695 for 2 weeks. It is so much more fun in town on daily commute or taking a pillion. Sometimes I just wish it had more torque but I do not miss bhp. Guess lots of overtaking in town on short distances so T is better.
Uh one more engine is more revvy on smaller bike and you have to revv it more to do everything from setting off to fltering to overtaking but that is neither bad or good just how it is.

I think the 900 is about 10 kg heavier. So about the same as having a monkey riding pillion which, unless you've ever ridden with a monkey in which case I'd like to hear about it, is a pretty useless analogy

Just more power but better brakes too. Heavy clutch but money to spend can cure that one along with any thing.

Cure the heavy clutch for the price of a few well placed 5mm washers
I put 4 or 5 washers betwen the 'top hat washers' and the pressure plate on the clutch pack - result - feather light clutch action for free - my favourite price

Another way is take 2 springs out. Its all wrong because eventually clutch slip can occur but depends how you ride IMHO. Did me for nearly 2 years I think.

Just the torque really mate - The weight difference is a gnats chuff and I'm not even sure the twin brake setup is the step up you'd think it would be. I enjoy the 900 but I've still got a real soft spot for the 600 - maybe I'm biased as I've had two !

I like the lumpyness
Hector has always had a terrible throttle its had bits replaced taken apart and no matter what has been done its always been stiff and a real fight to twist the throttle drives me mental.
I despair of it.
10kg shouldn't be a problem.
I can't fins a m900 in my price range so looks like an engine instead

Id snap up that foggy bike but its crazy overpriced and I don't have that money available to me.

The engine on the 400 is very very revvy so a total leap away would be nice.
And the extra noise and I like loud noisy bikes as long as its not HD shudder feel no love for them!

Not ridden a 600 but I did and do find the 750 a better all round bike than the 900.
