Been out trying my latest addition
http://bsd.uk.com/ducati-696-cordona...ckshifter-fit/
No-one in their right mind has ever accused me of being sensible and even I admit it is a little silly but.... damn it is fun. The people at BSD were great and I can recommend them, thinking of popping back for a remap later in the year.

I'd have waited for some better weather but a nice addition.
Full throttle round the roads of Kent then ?

No, it's race use only, I'm certain BigOz would never accidentally leave it on whilst on the road

1st to 2nd is a bit far gearing wise so I short shift with the clutch then pin it and the quickshifter deals with the rest.
No switching it on or off, it only activates when it detects 12kg of force on the shift rod so using the clutch no kill occurs, with a clutch less shift I just apply what feels like not much pressure to the lever and it kicks in and kills the spark for 50ms and aparrantly brings the cylinders back one at a time. I think the set kill time is also varied a bit by the unit to give a smooth shift depending on what it detects. All seems very clever.

Used to get a similar effect for free on my old OIF triumphs.
Just hold the throttle on the stop and put as much pressure on the gear lever as bearable. Then all that is needed for a gearchange is a dab of the kill button whilst keeping it nailed. Then just release the gearpedal pressure and re-apply for the next gear, which comes up pretty quickly. The momentary kill lets enough pressure off the gear dogs to let the gear in..Bit brutal though.!!..And it needs a spring loaded kill button ( like a horn button) |

Well, that's a bit over the top and unnecessary.
I bet it makes you grin. Actually, its nice to see someone who's prepared to do a few tasty performance mods to a relatively lowly 696. Much like my own 750, I think there's a lot to be said for working with a bike which doesn't have ridiculous amounts of power. There's something satisfying about making quick progress when it isn't just simply a case of twisting the throttle on the straights. |

very cool mate
heard lots of good things about the cordona do you know if it cuts the spark or the fuel? is it race shift? interested to know how much (pm me if you want) were you going for an HM shifter originally? |

It kills the spark, it can kill on compression or extension of the rod so will work for either pattern and they have a toe peg replacement version if you have a lever mounted directly to the splined shaft.
The PQ8 I have was £328 plus fitting. After booking the day to get an HM fitted in Sittingbourne, HM emailed and let me know the could not fit theirs to the Monster. I've since found out the way the HM interrupts the spark is not as good as the way Cordona does it, something to do with shorting the coils to ground.

AWESOME!
I've thinking about fitting a quick shifter to mine too - I don't think it's silly at all!

Same here. I'm interested in a QS and getting the bike on a Dyno for a cheeky reflash. If I'm going to keep her, I may as well performance-pimp her!
