Beat that!!!!

Just finished working out my fuel consumption figures following my 2000 mile trip on the Continent on my Evo. I averaged 55mpg with a best of 62 and a worst of 45. To say I am happy is a major understatement! Astounding! On one particular day I got 160 miles before the light came on! Good eh? Of course, I was riding in a manner which was conducive to good mileage, but even so, I remain very impressed. On my 1200 Griso I could never do better than the low 40's, no matter how gentle I was with the throttle. Well done Ducati for their new desmodue motor. A masterpiece!

My old 900 and 750 monsters could manage similar figures the 2v motors have always been frugal but even my S4 can get 50mpg when touring and its heavily hotted up/

I'm currently getting about 53mpg from the Evo. My M1100 would average about 49mpg. The best I got was over 60mpg last year on long rides at a constant 80mph across France and Spain. I'll be doing the same over the coming weeks on the Evo so I'm expecting slightly better mpg than the M1100, but slightly less distance between fuel stops due to the Evo's 13.5 litre fuel tank compared to 15 litres on the M1100. The reason being that the Evo's ABS controller is housed under the tank therefore reducing the tank size.

Last year my friend's Triumph Rocket III was going onto reserve at the same time as the M1100. The difference is that the Triumph has a 24 litre fuel tank.
