A bolt from the blue (or black or red or copper or...)

You know you're running out of mods to carry out when you're reduced to swapping out individual bolts! (On the plus side, it's way cheaper than a set of carbon wheels!)

Anyway, I've just come across this fastener supplier that I thought I'd share, as they might be useful to someone.

They're called GWR Fasteners https://www.gwr-fasteners.co.uk/ and their USP is that they can supply stainless fasteners in a variety of colours.

I only bought a single screw for the exhaust bracket but I was very impressed by the quality of the finish - very deep black, very smooth and very glossy.

I've replaced various screws in the past with blackened stainless versions but those have had a rather industrial finish similar to gun blue and not comparable with black anodised aluminium.

These, however, are like the best anodising, only in stainless (no purple option though!). I'm not sure how resilient the finish is, as the blurb says the fasteners are not designed for frequent assembly/disassembly. Still, probably no worse than anodising.

Standard black stainless (left); GWR black (right)

Anyway, if you need coloured stainless, then this stuff seems excellent quality. (Maybe the copper would go nicely with buzzer's orange paintwork?! )

I was only thinking the other day, how do I get Gold bolt heads on my handlebar clamp without using aluminium bolts, which I would not trust on an important bit like that.

It's a shame they don't polish the lettering off before they colour them though!

Im not sure if your bike was originally fitted with caps like mine was but you could always get some nice gold aluminium caps to replace/cover the hex and finish it off that way.

Like these:

Mine with original black covers:

The coloured fasteners are made to order and the website says to contact them if you have a specific requirement. I'm sure they could remove the lettering if you asked them. Alternatively, you could polish the lettering off yourself first, then send them the fasteners for colouring.

Flip's coloured buttons are a good solution; I've got silver and black ones in several spots on my Evo. (I did have them on my OE handlebar clamp before I swapped it for the CNC Racing ones).

Pro-bolt can supply those buttons in various colours, Darren. (If I'm not mistaken, that picture in Flip's post is actually from their website.)

Pro-bolt are out of stock of M8 buttons in all colours and so are Demon Tweeks.
No stock expected for a couple of months.
Does anyone know of anywhere else that stocks Pro-bolt? They don't have to be Gold, I will paint them my own colour anyway.

These guys have got them in lots of colours Mr G!!

I’m sure you’ve already considered it but just for information, when fitting I tend to dab a little RTV Silicone into the hex to secure it properly just incase the O-ring either perished over time or isn’t quite as tight a fit as it could be.

Thanks for that Flip, not sure why my search didn't turn those up, but their description is a little different?
I ordered a set even though they are more than twice the price of Pro-Bolt's, and a set of 6, not 5?
I'll post a pic when the little bling up is finished..

I though the pro-bolt ones were 0.95 each?

Yes, sorry I got that wrong. I thought I had been mugged (or been a mug!) but in fact they are the same price as from Probolt, except Probolt hasn't got any..

Yea I thought as much! Too much bling has addled your brain maybe? But if anyone apart from Gary who only wants gold ones. If you want silver ones and need only 4 I am willing to buy the other 2 and pay the difference in postage as I only really need 2. Nuff said.

If you only need two, Darren, PM me your address and I'll pop a couple in the post tomorrow, gratis. (And let me know if you want M6 or M8.)
