thread size rear axle

Anybody know the correct thfread size for the rear axle of a 98 600 monster

it appears to be about 16mm diameter but unsure what pitch it is

nuts have corroded and going to be replaced with stainless

Not sure as to pitch, but I would suggest taking the nut to a local fixing supplier and ask them to match. Generally I find the local guys cheaper than the internet.

great idea and there is a great shop locally - except its not open saturday and I'd have to take half a day off work to go there

Stigs fasteners do a great mail order service and can supply most odd ball threads at competitive prices

Ducati workshop manual sez its M16x1.5 on my 2000 M750. Almost certainly the same on your 600 I would think. You might find the stainless nut is a fraction looser than the plain steel one cos I think they cut stainless threads with more clearance to avoid their tendency to sieze. Not sure whether male or female threads (or both) are looser though.
