This government which has proved itself totally useless in every respect, can't manage to fix holes in the road & can't afford to fund most councils or standard public services. I doubt they are suddenly going to reverse ten years of ineptitude and suddenly manage to achieve constant vehicle noise monitoring.

If there is any truth in this whatsoever, it will be some type of ticket issued by the plod to offending cars & bikes requiring them to be tested. Minimal penalty for first time offenders and dramatically increased fines etc for those who repeat. As long as the noise limits are reasonable, this will simply be a way of reeling in the idiot fringe. Of course the plan will fall down due to the lack of traffic police - though having said that I saw one for the first time in four months yesterday.
