The Darmah never broke down one me as such but threatened to on many occasions. I did a two week France/Switzerland/Italy run on it in 1981 swung by the factory in Bologna and got a tour of the place whilst they were making the 500 vertical twin. Never figured out why but the Darmah ran oddly on the trip, it would run on one cylinder below 30mph then next day it's run on the one cylinder above 30mph. No two days the same! Then as soon as we crossed the channel it ran perfect again
