I was into sports bikes (not in a weird way, I should add) and had a ZX-6R and a GSX-R600 at the same time. I got rid of both of them and bought a Monster 696! Yes it's a bit of a left turn, but the truth of it is that the little 696 was way more fun than either of those 'rice rockets' and it reignited my love of riding.
OK so after a year I craved more power again, hence the 1100 evo, but really I see that as just a more powerful 696, 'cos it basically is, and it's still not silly power at 100bhp or whatever they are. It just means you can use more of it on the road
I like the 1200R, but for me it would have been 50bhp wasted.
