Don't believe everything they tell you. It's still a very secret frontline base.
When the Trimingham scanners became operational (known locally as the Golf ball), Lots of drivers reported their cars dying within the vicinity of the dome. It only effected certain models. This was about the time when ECUs were getting more common on cars and naturally the scanners got the blame for the cut outs.
The influence of the scanners on the cars was neither confirmed nor denied!!
Funny that a remote immobiliser for motorcycles was experimented with in recent years, that used microwaves. (As an alternative to a Stinger, which is inappropriate for a bike.)
