I fitted an Oberon on my 1997 900 some when around 2011 I think but only because I got it at a good price from someone in the club and the gold matched the rest of my bike.
Unlike many profess, I didn’t really notice a difference in either bite position or making it a lighter action.
You can get a rebuild kit for the original which I had done previously on mine back in 2005 which was still working well at the point of change.
