Also note that there are two different styles of 3-spoke wheels.
Both have tapered spokes but these get wider towards the rim in older wheels while later wheels have spokes which get narrower towards the rim.
The later wheels are also lighter.
Whether or not this change corresponds directly to the change from 17 to 25mm spindles I dunno.

I dinged the front wheel of my 750 about 10yrs ago and had it straightened.
Cost me £50 at the time, done by a nice chap from Sleaford.
I believe Alf Hagon also offer a straightening service, and they might be nearer to you.
edit .. or Motoliner as Jonzi suggests.
Whether it can be done or not depends on the extent of the damage but it might be worth considering.

Of course, another option might be to shell out on a pair of lighter wheels.
