Closest thing to a 916 monsterwise would be an S4/S4R and as Luddite said the later air cooled bikes like the 786/1100/EVO do tend to suffer from poor fueling and low speed running issues due to strict emission regs. That may have been fixed by a previous owner if you're lucky. They also have plastic tanks which can swell and distort, the earlier 695/S2R and S4RS also had plastic expanding tanks. You might be able to dry them out and they may shrink back to almost as good as before.
