Nobody seems to know why that is. My theory is that it's black from the alloy wearing in the slave bore, by normal piston travel or by spinning caused by the rotating pushrod.

Your guess is as good as mine though.
My theory is heat from engine and or heat transferred from pushrod to clutch basket. As long as it works that's ok. Seems weird now having a Scrambler with a cable. Much easier though.
