Many thanks guys they popped off a treat warmed them with a hairdryer using my finger nail flicked up the back edge (opp. Needle) of top black cap .
Then where I was going wrong, I was trying to lift the bottom black cap sitting on the gauge faces. But instead using two teaspoons you lever either side of the clear part of the needle just above the black cap. They eased up a treat and came off. CAREFULLY.
