I had it good authority that the throttle body potentiometer shouldn't make a difference as the ecu will work ok with both types (linear and non-linear). What will change is the way you have to set them up when you tune the bike. You can't TPS reset an non-linear type otherwise you will never be able to get the factory setting back. They have to be set with a volt meter. Linear type tended to be fitted to the later type models though like 696/796 etc.
