So....
adaptor ring delivered and fitted:
absolutly no drama with the ring as supplied just the massive plug on the Lamp itself preventing the shell closing. Sorted with a new loom without the massive plug :-)
It looks a bit squiffy in the picture but that was soon fixed with a little twisting.
