Are the cans new? If not, and the bike has been OK with them before, then it's probably nothing to do with them. Nothing has changed.

MrsC's bike (696 with more miles on it than some space craft) has had a number of electrical issues caused by corroded contacts or insulation rubbing through. The way to find the problem is first, identify which circuit has failed, and then, using the wiring diagram at the back of the manual, work out where that circuit goes on the bike. Then it's out with the meter to check for opens and shorts.

Isn't there a way to get the ECU to display stored error codes? I'm sure there's something in the service manual along those lines. If it tells you that, say, a sensor has intermittently failed, then that's your starting point.
