Ouch! Get well soon, Rob.
I fractured my L1 and knee (among other things!) a few years back and had the body cast thing for a month. I was told I couldn't drive for three months but they didn't mention riding so I was back on a CG125 after six weeks carrying my crutches on my back in an old air rifle bag. With some physio and a bloody-minded attitude, you'll soon be back on two wheels (perhaps sooner than two legs!).
