The radiator guards are a no-brainer, a holed radiator will set you back a grand.
Personally, I much prefer evotech kit to r&g rad guards which are tie wrapped on rather than bolted.

Thanks for the offer - regretfully I have already taken the plunge on the Evotech. Have been in Scotland (still am) on holiday and without too much internet access. Forgot I had asked the question ( and didn't realise I had been replied to! ).
The 'serious mishap' does not sound good. Are you ok?
