It's only just occurred to me that the original clutch on an 848 would have been wet, wouldn't it? So, ignore what I said earlier about the Sigma clutch.
A quick check of the Kbike dry clutch conversion shows that: "...The hub of the slipper clutch is a special design to accommodate the shorter input shaft of the 848."
Which probably ties in with what Darren said about needing a spacer.
