If I recall correctly, the speedo sensor is a three wire type so this video may help if you want to test it. (You'll need a 12v dc power source.)

To test yours, leave the unplugged sensor in situ on the bike, connect it up as per the video, and then rotate the wheel to check for a voltage output.
