Just be aware that if you’ve been running alloy friction plates in a steel basket, depending on how many miles you’ve done, you may had already given them an unrecoverable beating.
So fitting a new basket may not actually make things much better other than the fact that the clatter of alloy on alloy is a bit quieter than that of steel on steel.
