When my crank sensor went intermittent the engine management would light up and an error code logged, bike would run but would occasionally misfire. So if you're not seeing that then like you I would suspect an immobiliser issue.

When I enquired with Neil at Cornerspeed about disabling the immobilser on mine, he couldn't do it but knew someone who could. It's a re-flash but not a regular one. I think Rob knows where you can get it done.

BTW Do you still have the '01 DP ECU I sent you? I was told that this had not been keyed so the immobiliser should be off but I only had the sellers word for that. I didn't try it. May be worth trying it out.

I too parked up my S4 with no issues and now some time later have an intermittent engine management light when I turn on the ignition, and bike won't start when this happens but it was fine before laying up! I only replaced the battery. I've yet to investigate further what the error is since I can't fine my PC Diag leads.
