Agreed about the rubber cable tidies. When I had my S2R I tried replacing them with red cable ties but they still didn't look right.
Then I discovered that the 1000 Multistrada used these plastic retainers (85040671A),
which fitted on small spigots on the inner faces of the frame rails and so were completely invisible. (You thread a regular cable tie through it to secure the wiring.)
So, when I had the heads off for the big bore conversion, I drilled the frame where the old rubber ties had been and made substitute spigots from modified pop rivets, which I fitted so the heads were about 2-3mm proud of the frame. The Multistrada retainers then fitted over the rivet heads. It really tidied up the look of the frame, I think.
