I like to think Im a master of informed bodgery!! You should have seen the face on the Machine Shop guy when I said what I proposed to do!
I knew the Blacksmith drill wasnt right and had a good idea it wasnt going to produce a hole matching its specified size, hence I ordered a 21.5mm drill for the 22mm OD bush, expecting to have to go to work with a burr or a small flap wheel. I also wanted the bush to be a really tight fit to maybe help reduce its specified 18mm ID.
This just happened to be an instance of all the wrongs adding up to a right. The drill had wandered enough for me to press the bush straight in with a good pressure and the bush fitted as a perfect tight fit on the pivot.
