People might want to remember that not everybody even offers visits to a live factory, including in some cases to the R&D and GP departments. Of course, sometimes these may have to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances; I only work in an investment bank and we've had to cancel intern visits when something sensitive is happening or the Fed or the big cheeses are coming in. If your trip has been spoilt by the cancellation, guess you can either claim on the travel insurance or go anyway and do something different. Or, as it seems, throw a hissy fit. If no tour was available then that would be fine as I wouldn't of booked and paid for everything. But on the basis it was ok'd 6 months ago I've booked and paid for everything. I guess you wouldn't mind losing out on £500 by not going then? Travel insurance wouldn't help as trip could still be done but without the main reason of he trip would seem pretty pointless.
